
Michael J. Fleres, Esq.
Michael J. Fleres is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney. Mr. Fleres focuses his practice in family law including divorce, child custody and child support, alimony, equitable distribution, and domestic violence. He zealously represents his clients with a keen sensitivity to the emotional considerations unique to the family law client, and he has honed his trial skills through his domestic violence practice, where he has successfully defended those wrongfully accused and prosecuted on behalf of the victims. Mr. Fleres is also experienced in representing military members in family law matters unique to their service obligations.
Admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, he is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Military Law and Veterans’ Affairs Section, where he was Chair of the Section in 2022. He is also a member of the State Bar Association’s Family Law Executive Committee, the Monmouth County Bar Association and Family Law Committee, and the Aldona E. Appleton Family Law American Inn of Court where he is a frequent lecturer on family law topics. Mr. Fleres also sits as a Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties.
Michael J. Fleres graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in biology and a minor in philosophy in 1997 where he earned three varsity letters as a member of Dayton’s NCAA Div. I wrestling team. He earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2000. While at Detroit Mercy, Mr. Fleres was inducted as a member of the National Order of Barristers – a national honor society recognizing graduating law students who excelled in oral advocacy and brief writing skills. He resides in Monmouth County. Additionally, he is an Eagle Scout and is the Scoutmaster of his local Boy Scout troop.
