Usually, mediations will resolve a case in anywhere between two to three sessions for a garden variety divorce case. For the more complicated cases that will involve child custody, significant parenting time issues, valuation of a business, those mediations are a little bit more complex. They take a little bit more time and maybe for or five sessions. But the money you spend in mediation with your lawyer and the mediator pales in comparison to trying to reach a settlement and litigating in court, month after month up until a period of a year. I would say that most mediations are probably complete within a month to three months depending upon how motivated the parties are to settle.
