Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
Townsend, Tomaio & Newmark has supported Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Morris and Sussex Counties since 2015. Laurie Newmark serves on the CASA Board of Trustees. CASA is a private, non-profit organization that trains caring adult volunteers to advocate for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect and placed in foster care. These volunteers advocate for the children until they find safe, nurturing, and permanent homes.
CASA volunteers “speak up” for these children in the court and child welfare system, making sure they are safe and well-cared for, are getting the services they need, and are placed in a permanent, safe, nurturing home as quickly as possible. The firm’s donations have directly supported the CASA program to train and supervise volunteers, as well as the Fostering Futures Program to prepare youth for independent living before they age-out of the foster care system.
