TTN Attorneys Receive NJ Supreme Court Matrimonial Law Certification!

The Townsend, Tomaio & Newmark team wish to take this opportunity to congratulate two of our attorneys, Partner John E. Clancy, Esq. and Associate Gregory A. Pasler, Esq., for their recent certification in Matrimonial Law by the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Taken from the NJ Judiciary’s website, a Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney is an attorney who is “able to demonstrate sufficient levels of experience, education, knowledge, and skill in matrimonial law practice“.

A New Jersey Supreme Court Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney must:

  • have been a NJ Bar Association member in good standing for at least 5 years
  • fulfill ongoing and continuous legal education requirements
  • demonstrate a substantial level of experience in matrimonial law
  • be favorably evaluated by other judges and attorneys familiar with their work
  • take, and pass, a written examination in matrimonial law

Furthermore, according to December 2016 data, of the roughly 75,000 lawyers currently practicing within the state of New Jersey, only 1,650 have received a NJ Supreme Court Board Certification. It is important for the Judiciary to protect the integrity of its certification so that people seeking legal counsel know that when they retain the counsel of a NJ Supreme Court certified attorney, they are retaining the counsel of an attorney who is highly knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled both in the courtroom and when it comes to communicating with their clients.
